It was Bridget's goup this time, and Allie came along with us (of course). After the food and chores, and just before bedtime, there were many scary stories. One mother (I think her name was Cathy or Kathy) had secretly brought along a realistic looking rubber severed hand from a novelty store... and at the critical moment in her frightful story... pulled it out of her hiding spot and quickly threw it near the fire where all the kids (little girls) could see it and start shrieking out loud. One of the Brownie den mother/counselor's children was so young she totally wigged out and would not go to her tent but demanded to be taken home IMMEDIATELY...to Philadelphia... at 10:00 PM, from the countryside two hours away. Poor Cathy (or Kathy) got dagger eyes from the den mother. The rest of us thought it was a hoot.
