We Remember

Although I am not American, this is my (new) home.
On days like today, I love how the whole country comes together as one and it's hard not to feel patriotic.
Today we celebrated America's hero's by attending our local parade and community BBQ. I don't know if it's just my hormones, but I cried like a baby as soon as the parade began. I cannot even begin to imagine what some of those veterans have seen and been through.
Thank you for guarding my home and my family. Happy Memorial Day!

How did you spend your Memorial Day?

  1. I feel a bit american since I was an exchange student there for 1 year...happy memorial day =)

  2. she looks adorable!! :) love the head band :)

  3. She just gets cuter and cuter! And I lovelovelove her headband. :)

  4. Zoey is just so dang adorable! And her headband is too cute for words! So glad you guys got to celebrate her first memorial day outdoors at the parade :) Isn't it funny how you almost feel more partrotic about your expat home that you do your real one? I always tear up during the national anthem at rugby games or when I hear "Ons vir jou Suid Afrika". It's so weird, in the states I never tear up, ha!

  5. We don't have memorial day in France but it was a long weekend...the weather was incredible and pools and champagne and red wine were involved! Zoey really looks like you, eh?!

  6. I've been following your blog for a while now. Congrats on baby Zoey! This is a beautiful tribute to our veterans. Thanks for sharing and feeling as much love and pride in America as we do!!!!
